"Life is Beautiful"

The movie is called “Life is Beautiful”. The movie is a comedic and romantic feature that also involves tragic events that later happen to Guido's family.
In the beginning of the movie, the protagonist, Guido falls in love with a school teacher name Dora. Dora who already has a boy friend dumps him to marry Guido. Several years later they get married and have a son. However, their happiness does not continue. When World War II breaks out Guido and his son are taken to a concentration camp because they are Jews. Dora who does not want to be separated from her family volunteers to ride on the train headed for a concentration camp.
When they arrive in the camp Guido tries to protect his son from the horror of the concentration camp by telling him that this whole thing is just a game. Guido wants to make sure his son is in full protection and his son is his top priority--- no matter what. Guido tells his son that if he wins the game the winner gets a tank as a prize. Even though Guido knows about the holocaust he doesn’t want his son to get  hurt from it so he hides his son and encourages him to win the game.
In conclusion, this movie tells us about how love is more powerful than pain. Even though Guido experiences this horrible life in the camp he never gives up his love for his family. He accomplished in lying to his son about the game by acting positive despite the miserable conditions in the camp. If it was not for the love he wouldn't be acting positive, he would have lost his hope and die in the camp. However, Guido dies almost at the end of movie while he is looking for his wife in women's camp. Not because he lost his hope, it was because of his love.

Why does Eliezer say that the two of them "had never understood one another so clearly"?

It was on the eve of Rosh Hashanah. Everyone in the camp prayed to god and all of them participated in a solemn service. However, Eliezer questioned the god existence. He didn’t listen to other people’s prayer saying that “all the earth and universe are God’s”. He questioned god “what are you, my god? I thought angrily. How do you compare to this stricken mass gathered to affirm to You their faith, their anger, their defiance? What does Your grandeur mean, master of the Universe, in the face of all this cowardice, this decay, and this misery? Why do you go on troubling these poor people’s wounded minds, their ailing bodies?” (66). As days pass by Eliezer’s faith on god has changed significantly. He used to be very devoted religious person who used to cry in church while praying but everything has changed as thorough living in concentration camp. He constantly questions god’s existence.
On the New Year’s night Eliezer walked to his dad to wish him happy New Year. When Eliezer kissed him tear dropped on his hand, no one knew who’s tears it was. They never had understood each other. One of the reasons that they never understood one another so clearly was due to the life in concentration camp that kept them separate. Everyone is busy doing their own thing in order to survive so they would have no time to take care for each other. Also in camps people were treated so severely like an animal, for this reason they both had no strength to express their opinions and talk to each other more.

How does Eliezer respond when his father is beaten for the first time? How does that response affect the way he sees himself? What does he fear is happening to him?

From long journey from Sighet to Auschwitz, Eliezer and his father has been put into concentration camp. They observe this huge devastating picture in this camp that they were shock that they couldn’t believe it was really happening. After Elizer and his father was put into a barrack, Eliezer's dad suddenly had a colic problem and he asked the Gypsy politely “Excuse me… could you tell me where the toilets are located?” his dad was severely beaten for asking that question. However, Eliezer stand watching his dad getting beaten, he just stood there as he never knew that person. Elizer feared that if he helped his dad he would go straight to chimney. Eliezer grew guilty that he couldn’t help his dad and so his remorse grew as well. He promises himself that “I shall never forgive them for this” (39) and he never forget this memory.
Eliezer never wanted to be a person who abandon his own dad like his other friends in camp. He was feared that he was becoming like one of them and so he prays to god to help him never to lose hope on his dad. However later in the chapter Eliezer was relived when his farther died because he didn't have to look after him anymore.

comparison between "night" by elie wiesel and movie called "Schindler's list"

We have read first chapter of night by Ellie Wiesel and part of a movie from “schindler’s list” directed by Steven Spielberg. From these two I have found some similarity and differences. Both book and movie was set in 19th century during when Nazi took control over Germany. It was similar in ways that it portrayed Jew as anti social elements. In the movie, according to edict 44/91 all Jews from Krakow and surrounding areas were forced from their homes and requires to crowd into an area of only sixteen square house. On the contrary, the book was set in Sighet located in Transylvania; all Jews in that place were also sent into ghettos. In similarly, protagonist farther was a counselor meaning he was the public speaker for all Jews. Also in the movie there was 24 counsel to listen to all the problems Jewish had.
One of the major differences between book and the movie was the black marketing. In the book it didn’t mention anything about black marketing. However, in the movie there was some illegal trade going on with Jews. Working Jews were able to go out at certain time and get goods from outside than comeback. Then this goods will be sold in much higher price than outside the ghetto because no one is allowed to leave unless you had a job.
In the book, it was similar in a way that only person who has job could leave at certain times but the book never mentioned about black marketing. Another simmiliarity was that all valuable stuff were taken away from Jewish and was forbidden to own those jewelry. All valuable were to be handed in to the authorities.
